We all know of somebody that set up a small business. However, were you aware that seventy percent all small businesses do not survive the first year? That failure rate, in some countries, can reach as much as 85-90% Setting up a small business is actually one of the mose difficult things you can ever do. However, the vast majority do it for the wrong reason.

I have created many small businesses over the past decade. It is true to say that all of them were started from scratch. And also each grew into a thriving business. I recently decided to sell a small business of mine because it had reached the goal I had set for it. This is something you need to think about.

Believe it or not, most of the people who actually set up a small business do so for the wrong reasons. I've also done the same. What do I mean by the wrong reason? Most people start a small business because they believe they can do a better job then their current boss. I don't know if this is true. But, in reality, what most people really want is a better working lifestyle and more money. No one can blame you for wanting that. But I have this warning for you. If you want that, please do not start a small business.

One of the major things you must give some thought to up-front before getting started with your small business is whether you know how it will appear to others. If you were walking down the street, how would you want to be found? What impression do you want to give to your clients? What clearly do you what to achieve in this business?

The second clear understanding you must have of your business is, when will you know when it is finished? When you have built what you want to achieve and more importantly, how will you get out of it?

See most people when they go into business have no exit strategy and that is one of the worst things you can do. Before you ever start a business, the first thing you must work out is how you are going to get out of the business.

I started a small car cleaning business a couple of years. My wife and I both started it because she wanted to see if she could build a business. We planned to part with the business once it was all set up and making money. But how were we going to sell it?

See, we could have taken a number of approaches to this. Our exit strategy could have been to franchise the business, sell it to a single owner or to float it on the stock market. We originally decided our aim was to sell it off to another small business owner. But we still set it up so that it could still grow and provide more opportunites for the new owner. In essence, we had removed the risky bits for them on how to operate the business by clearly spelling out and documenting everything they needed to know in order to run the small business successfully.

I hope the above article helped you in your search for information about texas starting a small business. If it didn't, I would advise you to re-read the article thoroughly and you will get clearer about texas starting a small business.
